Beercoholics Origins

Whenever people travel, typically they tend to bring home a souvenir as a remembrance. For some, that can be magnets, post cards, patches or even luggage stickers. For me, it was T-Shirts. I would dish out from $3 for a life quote written on a Cambodian shirt all the way up to $30 for a 'The God Father' designed shirt from Italy. This inherently created 2 problems. The 1st problem was money. T-Shirts are not cheap and at an average cost of $20 each, the total cost alone would net me almost another free trip. The 2nd problem is space. I had 2 options to what to do with the shirts, either I wear them regularly or store them in storage bins. Storing them required a lot of storing space and wearing them would eventually fatigue the shirt. I had to consider an alternative souvenir for my trips. What could I buy that is cheap and doesn't require any space and it's something I actually want? The answer: BEER!

I buy and taste the local beers of that area anyway so why not quantify and collect? It can't be beer mugs  because I would end up having the same problem. Bottle caps? Not all beers I drink come in bottles. What about tin can tabs? That would be perfect except for the fact that almost all beer can tabs are essentially identical! The answer came as I was sitting on the balcony of my hotel drinking a can of Birra Mastro overlooking the pool below (don't tell my wife). I wanted to remember what that beer tasted like and hopefully by capturing the moment with a photograph, I will be able to relive that feeling in the future. Eureka, It worked! From then on, I have tried to taste, find, and collect memories associated with different type of beers around the world.

In time, the beer collection grew and it became harder and harder to remember the memories associated with each beer. I figured would need a better system that could describe the beer and perhaps even a few words to explain what was happening at the time of consumption. If only there is a place where I can list down all the beers I have tasted  with a short story associated with each memory. I would love to be able to recall how much alcohol content was in that beer or knowing the origins, brewery location, and even average cost. Yes, yes, beer reviews and ratings are dime a dozen but what is beer without the associated story? The objective of the site is to help the readers get excited over a certain brew and want to experience it for themselves and possibly even learn something new about that particular beer.
